Information on the giclee process and the papers used

PRINTS

Giclee prints - giclee (pronounced zhee-klay) is French for 'spray' or 'squirt'.  Images are high resolution digital scans printed with archival inks that have been tested to remain stable for 100-200 years or more.  Printing is on special fine art paper, producing prints of depth of colour and richness and high quality.  These giclée prints are generally on either 192gsm Epson Archival Matte or 310gsm Hahnemuhle German Etching paper and are light-fast and UV-resistant under appropriate display conditions.

Giclee printing costs more per print (cost of special inks and papers etc) than conventional printing but offers greater flexibility and has the advantage of producing smaller runs or even individual prints to order.  You will find that the prices for such prints on this site are extremely competitive.

Each giclée print is individually signed and numbered unless it is an open edition, in which case it is only signed.  Information as to which type a print is can be found in the details given about that print.

Prints and watercolours should be hung out of direct sunlight
