Michael Buerk, the BBC journalist, presenting Alix with a piece of sculpture by Vivien Mallock on handing over the chairmanship of the Armed Forces Art Society, at the Mall Galleries, 2007
Alix has two sides to her art - 'Civilian' and military.
Alix undertakes commissions for both sides.
On the civilian side: paintings are done in very many styles and several media. The subject matter tends to dictate what medium is used. One of her specialties is paintings of Oman and the Arabian Gulf.
On the military side: for parades, areas of active service, official presentations etc. In fact, anything on a military theme can be considered. Information on past official commissions can be supplied on request. Her past mail order business sold her military work worldwide in print, postcard and other forms. Alix has written, painted and done graphic work for specialist publications. Some of the world's top model soldier makers have used her work for reference. Several web sites are illustrated by her pictures. Her work can be found in numerous museums from those throughout the United Kingdom to several abroad. Her advice is sought by publishers, authors, silversmiths, sculptors, magazines and historians.
She has been the subject of study by A level and GCSE students.
Alix was the first civilian and first woman to be elected Chairman of the Services' top art society, The Armed Forces Art Society, which holds its annual exhibition at The Mall Galleries, London.
Alix is also a judge at exhibitions and other art-related events.
She is a Freeman of the City of London and of the Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers.
Alix is married to Tom Bremridge and has 2 sons.
